Ah! Sweet memories of Ranthambore National Park and my time there surface from time to time.
During these long-struggling days which resemble an ocean with consistent pandemic waves and a stressed society that is forced to adopt the culture of social distancing as a new normal, leisure travel has become a dream or just some memories of past life. So here I am – recalling some of my favourite past adventures.
A few years back I finally fulfilled my much-awaited desire to experience the fearsome creature of the jungle – the Tiger -closely and freely at Asia’s most dominating domicile of tigers, Ranthambore National Park.
Ranthambore National Park Tiger is located in Rajasthan, the historic princely Indian state, known for its heroic history, vivid culture, generations of brave warriors, and also as the guardian angel of the ancient wild. When you visit the Ranthambore National Park you will find many interesting attractions including a 10th-century fort and an ancient temple of Lord Ganesha.
The former hunting ground of the royals has currently 10 wide zones for catching sight of the tiger and other animals. As we continue our journey deeper into the forest, deer, sambar, crocodiles and several species of birds can be captured in your camera as well.
After experiencing the dense forest in an open jeep for nearly two hours, we finally encountered the King of the Jungle himself – resting under the tree, not bothered by the anonymous shutterbugs.
While I was holding a harmless canon, I could easily hear my increased heartbeat in the deadly silence filled with the sound of the nonstop shutter clicks. Zooming in to get the perfect angle by my 70-300 mm, suddenly he woke up and look directly, fearlessly into the lens. A drop of sweat fell from my forehead, clicks stopped for a second as we also encountered his brother who was taking a power nap next to him.
After clicking enough precious shots of the King, we moved on to explore the rest of the jungle but nothing could compare with those fearless, hypnotic eyes. I have witnessed one of the most breathtaking experiences of my life. For those who adore wildlife and are willing to spend hours waiting to see wonderful animal sighting in their natural habitat, Ranthambhore is a must escape.
