Holi, the festival of colours and flavours has arrived onboard Emirates, and the airline is serving twin treats — festive sweets and special fares — to craft memorable and premium experiences for its passengers.
On March 9 and 10, Emirates’ customers travelling to and from seven destinations in India – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai – will enjoy the much-loved Indian mithai Kesar Gujiya with their main meal. The deep-fried dumpling, stuffed with khoya and dried fruits, will be served in a specially designed box reminiscent of the colourful and playful festival of Holi.
First and Business Class passengers will be warmly welcomed at their seats with cold Thandai – the festive drink prepared from milk and nuts, and flavoured with saffron and rose petals.
Besides the onboard treats, the airline will feature a special festive spread in the Emirates Lounge at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Customers can savour Kesar Gujiya and a snack relished by millions of Indians: Dahi Bhalle – fried lentil balls dipped in sweetened curd and topped with spicy chutney and savoury garnishes.
Sweetening the festive season, Emirates is offering a 10% discount on Business and Economy fares to those booking flights from India to Europe, Mauritius, or Seychelles from 6-9 March for travel between 13 March and 30 November 2020.
Jabr Al Azeeby -VP- India & Nepal, said, “Celebrating Holi at different touch points across our customers’ journey and with special fares is symbolic of the close relationship and the affinity Emirates shares with the people of India. We want our Indian customers travelling during Holi to be able to savour the flavours of the festival and of home. We wish everyone a fun-filled, peaceful and safe Holi.”
The long travel window gives travellers ample time to plan their journey to a host of exotic destinations. Explore the island paradise of Mauritius, the alluring archipelago of Seychelles, or if you’re backpacking across Europe, the enchanting city of Porto – the latest European addition to the Emirates network and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Portugal’s second-largest city is renowned for its impressive centuries-old architecture and serene vineyards – the fruit of which is used to make the city’s distinguished port wine.
To truly get into the quintessentially high Holi Hai! spirit, Emirates’ customers can immerse themselves in the wide selection of popular Bollywood movies, including the latest blockbusters and classics, and music on ice – the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment system with over 4,500 channels. They can also take advantage of up to 20MB of complimentary Wi-Fi to stay connected with friends and family during the flight.
Emirates connects and embraces diverse cultures by bridging communities through the significant role it plays in global air transport. The airline keenly celebrates global cultures both inflight and on-ground, and is passionate about delighting customer palates with regionally inspired cuisine and special holiday menus. Diwali, Eid, Lunar New Year, Christmas, Oktoberfest and other festivals are celebrated with equal fervour, creating memorable experiences for travellers far from home.
