Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield announced the joining of Somrup Chanda as the Director of Operations.
Having accumulated around 18 years of expertise in upscale hospitality operations across various cities in India and internationally, Chanda will oversee several key areas including enhancing the brand, developing products, managing budgets, talent development, succession planning, and organising work and initiatives on a quarterly basis.
Somrup Chanda will be responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction, product upgradation and social media activation for increasing engagement. He will also help in curating events to increase footfall, look into improving brand Image and revenue, enhancing manning productivity and brand building with strategic collaborations.
Somrup possesses a wide variety of skills and competencies in different areas due to his experience through the years. He started his journey with Grand Hyatt Mumbai and subsequently worked with marquee brands in the hospitality industry such as Park Hyatt Hyderabad, Hyatt Regency Pune-Delhi-Kolkata, Sheraton Grand at Brigade Gateway, and Crowne Plaza & Staybridge Suites Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, to name a few.
Somrup Chanda has successfully planned and introduced new campaigns and strategiessuch as Shaadi by Marriott activation, Marriott Culinary Academy, Kid’s Camp at Marriott, Chaine Dinners, Accor All-Safe Member – Initiative to uplift Hotel Standards at Novotel Kolkata, Formula One Planning – biggest sport event of the globe at Abu Dhabi, Massive October-fests, UFC Sport Events and also have experience of big catering and MICE from 3000 to 35000 guests. He has been a part of pre-openings like Park Hyatt Hyderabad and Indore Marriott and also been part of re-launching restaurants. One of his newest launch was Beach Operations of 100 Loungers along the sea at Crowne Plaza& Staybridge Abu Dhabi with Food and Beverage and sport activities.
He loves to work closely with his team creating experiences for guests and partners. His ambition has led to him winning multiple awards and accolades such as establishing Indore Marriott Hotel – as the wedding destination and local’s favourite dining outlets and receiving the Manager of the Year Award at Sheraton Grand Bangalore at Brigade Gateway, Best Italian Restaurant – Celini at Grand Hyatt Mumbai (two times), Most awarded Restaurant – China House at Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Best Bar and Restaurant – Stills, Crowne Plaza Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
