Designers Group, powered by Fairfield By Marriott, Mumbai, toasted 35 years of pushing the boundaries of design.
Designers Group, a trailblazer in India’s hospitality industry, recently commemorated 35 years of design excellence with an exclusive event, powered by Fairfield By Marriott, Mumbai International Airport.
The event unfolded as a remarkable celebration of creativity, innovation, and the enduring legacy of Designers Group.
The event reached an esteemed status with the notable presence of editors and other High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs) from leading media houses like Today’s Traveller, Conde Naste, Burda Luxury, Ogaan Media, ITP media and more. Their involvement not only added an extra layer of significance to the occasion but also reaffirmed the exceptional design capabilities of Designers Group with resonance.
The presence of these distinguished figures emphasised the industry-wide acknowledgement of the organization’s ability to push the boundaries of design excellence, reinforcing the event as a crucial milestone in recognizing the firm’s position in the creative landscape.
The evening kicked off with a cordial reception for the guests.
An engaging session unfolded, fostering interactions between guests and the DG team including Sujata Chitalwala, Partner and Principal Designer and Alisha Chitalwala, Associate Architect followed by a delightful high tea.
The spotlight then shifted to an engrossing journey through Designers Group’s history, accompanied by an exclusive tour of the Fairfield by Marriott property by the first lot of the guests, personally guided by the visionary Ar. Khozema Chitalwala.
Conceived by Chitalwala himself, the design concept reflects a minimal and contemporary ambience while seamlessly incorporating the cultural and local influences of the region.
Visitors experienced the standout aspects of the hotel, starting with the entrance that skillfully incorporates diverse patterns and textures to elevate the overall guest experience. Reflecting the nautical vibe of the city, a carefully curated colour palette ranging from white to blue was chosen. The lobby was enriched with parametric elements, featuring a circular rug on the floor, curved couches supported by wooden logs, and an unconventional chandelier that enhances the illumination.
The parametric design of the stone backdrop for the lobby reception ensures a seamless blend with the surroundings. From the contemporary-designed banquet hall, bar, private dining room, and all-day dining venue to the suite rooms and the swimming pool area, every space was covered in the tour. The design principles of DG, emphasizing simplicity and a deep appreciation for local context and cultural values, have been skillfully interwoven into the design of Fairfield By Marriott.
Sustaining the momentum, Khozema Chitalwala delivered a comprehensive presentation on the hotel’s design, accompanied by impactful speeches from Ajoy Balkrishna, Vice President, and Rafiq Balwa, Executive Director and Vice President of Balwa Group, acknowledging the completion of 35 years for Designers Group.
Subsequently, the second group of guests embarked on a tour of the property.
As the night progressed, guests were treated to a gourmet dinner, a meticulous fusion of design and gastronomy, offering a sensorial banquet that mirrored the dedication to excellence shared by Designers Group and Fairfield By Marriott. The meal was themed around ‘Mumbai,’ aligning with the design inspiration of the hotel.
The grand finale featured a gesture of appreciation, with attendees receiving meaningful gifts, marking the perfect conclusion to a night filled with design, culinary delights, and celebration. A heartfelt thank you from Designers Group goes out to everyone who played a part in making this event an outstanding success.
