The Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) and Skal International, in partnership with Goa Tourism, have organised a series of exciting and enriching activities to celebrate World Tourism Day, highlighting Goa’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
With this year’s theme focusing on Tourism & Peace, three exclusive Heritage Walks have been curated to offer a deep dive into Goa’s rich history and local life. These walks are open to all, providing a unique opportunity to explore Goa like never before. In addition to the heritage walks, an exciting highlight of the celebrations includes the launch of a coffee table book at the cooking competition “Goencho Swad” hosted by the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM). This event not only showcases Goa’s culinary traditions but also adds a literary touch, offering insights into the state’s diverse cultural and gastronomic heritage.

We will also invite all our stakeholders from the travel trade to celebrate this year at the Stakeholder meeting at Nandanvan. On the 28th Learn about the “Making of Pao” with Soul Travelling. On 29th September immerse in the Jungle with Mrugaya expeditions and Adventure Breaks or visit the temple trail at Marcel with Soul Travelling .”

The first walk is hosted by the Museum of Christian Art, this walk takes participants through four significant monuments located on the holy hill of Monte Santo in Old Goa from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the meeting point will be at the Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Old Goa
The second walk is hosted by the Make It Happen team. This walk takes participants on a scenic walk through the charming village of Saligao. Participants will be allowed to explore local sights, discover hidden cultural treasures, and embrace the village’s serene atmosphere. The walk will start at 4:30 PM and end by 6:30 PM, the meeting point will be at the Mae De Deus Church, Saligao.
The third walk is led by Soul Travelling, this walk takes participants on a unique visit to one of Goa’s oldest planned markets and offers engaging interactions with local vendors, artists, and craftsmen. Participants get to experience the vibrant market culture of Mapusa in an authentic and personal way.
The walk will run from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, the meeting point will be at the Taxi Stand, Mapusa. Participation is free of charge for all walks, which include refreshments, a commemorative T-shirt, and the guided tour experience. In addition to the Heritage Walks, there is also a walk by Soul Travelling on 28th Sept called Life of Pao at 2 pm and a Temple Trail in Marcel on 29 Sept, at 9 am.
These events underscore Goa’s dedication to fostering sustainable tourism by highlighting its unique heritage and engaging the local community. The collaboration between TTAG, Skal International, and Goa Tourism reflects a shared vision of promoting responsible tourism while celebrating Goa’s rich cultural and historical legacy.
