Visit California brought together California’s rich sports, entertainment, and culinary culture together in an exciting event called Game On! held in New Delhi
The event focused on the state’s world-class attractions, delicious food, and fun-filled experiences.
Sheema Vohra, Managing Director – India, Visit California shared updates about the Golden State. In 2023, the total number of U.S. arrivals stood at 1,762,369.
Of these, California received 26.27% of the total arrivals, welcoming approximately 463,000 visitors.
These visitors contributed $1.6 billion in spending within the state. In 2024, the total U.S. arrivals are expected to rise to 1,889,683 passengers.
California’s market share is projected to range between 26% and 27%, translating to about 520,000 visitors. The spending by these visitors in California is estimated to grow to $1.8 billion.
The event also highlighted the latest in California across sports, entertainment, and culinary offerings with new openings and upcoming events.
Deputy Senior Commercial Officer Nathalie Scharf provided remarks at the California Game On! event in New Delhi emphasizing the strong People-to-People ties between the U.S. and India. U.S. Commercial Service India’s presence showcased the importance of the Indian travel market and its commitment to promoting tourism between the two countries.
Renowned for its fresh produce and world-class wines, California’s culinary essence was brought to life through wine tastings and live cooking demonstrations. Chef Vanshika Bhatia delighted guests with innovative creations featuring California‘s finest ingredients like walnuts, offering an opportunity to savour the flavours. Complementing this, sommelier Devati Mallick presented an engaging exploration of California wines. It highlighted its famous festivals, new attractions, food culture, and sports.
This was followed by a panel discussion titled, “Play to Plates”, which showcased California’s sports, food, and entertainment culture. The panel comprised Sourish Bhattacharyya, Senior Consultant (Content and Marketing), We the Chefs, and Co-Editor, The Bloomsbury Handbook of Indian Cuisine, along with Papa CJ, award-winning stand-up comedian, motivational speaker, and corporate coach with an MBA from Oxford, Daivik Mohan, and Murali Kartik, former Indian cricketer and was moderated by Chetan Vohra, Co-founder Weddingline.

California is recognized as a trendsetter for its cutting-edge, vegetable-forward, and local food habits with diverse cultural influences, often referred to as “California cuisine”.
