InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort has announced the appointment of Anand Nair as its new General Manager.
With a distinguished career spanning over 29 years in the hospitality industry, Anand Nair is set to bring his extensive experience and innovative leadership to InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort to further enhance the resort’s standing in the luxury market.
Anand Nair is recognized for his exceptional acumen in business strategy, competitive market stabilization, and a consistent track record of driving profitable growth year after year. His dynamic leadership qualities and profound understanding of the business and luxury markets have established him as a respected figure in the hospitality sector.
Joining IHG South West Asia in 2018 as General Manager, Anand has demonstrated his expertise in managing and elevating the standards of luxury hospitality at Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park most recently.
His career began as a Management Trainee with the Leela Group of hotels, progressing through various leadership roles in Food & Beverage at prestigious properties of The Leela and The Taj Group of Hotels in India and Sri Lanka.
Anand’s tenure as General Manager at Sarovar Hotels and Resorts saw the successful launch of Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere Hotel in 2010, a role he excelled in until 2018, receiving the GM of the Year award twice.
Throughout the pandemic, Anand Nair adeptly managed operations at The Intercontinental Chennai and The Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park, focusing his efforts on Crowne Plaza for three subsequent years. His significant achievements at the property earned him the General Manager of the Year (Owner’s Impact Award) in 2023, distinguishing him among over 185 IHG-branded properties across India, the Middle East, and Africa.
In his new role, Anand will be at the helm of complete operations and management at the InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort. He is committed to ensuring the highest levels of guest engagement, and profitability, and further solidifying the resort’s esteemed reputation and positioning.
