Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a Taj branded hotel in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The hotel is a greenfield project.
Speaking on the occasion, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, IHCL, said, “Kanpur’s recent inclusion among India’s smart cities, coupled with significant infrastructural advancements, is providing a fillip to the city’s hospitality landscape. This signing signifies our strategic focus on expanding our portfolio in emerging markets with strong growth potential. We are delighted to partner with JK Urbanscapes for this venture.”
Abhishek Singhania, Chairman, JK Urbanscapes Developers Limited said, “We are excited to partner with IHCL to bring the iconic Taj brand to Kanpur. The hotel will serve as a symbol of the city’s transformation reflective of its growing commercial significance in the state.”
With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have 26 hotels Uttar Pradesh under including 13 under development.
