India’s top restaurant Indian Accent, New Delhi has had a makeover thanks to an aesthetic partnership with India’s most trusted interior décor company Asian Paints.
Using plush fabrics and wallpaper from the Sabyasachi for Nilaya by Asian Paints’ The Heartland Collection, the 110-seater fine diner has received a considered refresher.
Created by ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, The Heartland Collection consists of over 120 fabric and wallpaper options presented within 5 groupings, each inspired by Mukherjee’s travels to places such as North Africa, Vrindavan and the Coromandel coast. Launched in 2021, the extensive collection is a part of the larger Sabyasachi for Nilaya by Asian Paints range of interior décor products. Each is primed to offer discerning consumers greater latitude in making their spaces more authentic to their selves and, at the same time, possess a piece of the Sabyasachi aesthetic realm.
At Indian Accent, New Delhi, velvets and linen from The Heartland Collection, in printed florals and textured embroidery, help create a sense of chicness and warmth. “We wanted to ensure what we chose lent themselves to making sure the food was the star. So, we approached the project by looking at what is the restaurant’s signature style and essence,” says Punit Jasuja, the Delhi-based interior aesthete, explaining the thought process that went into the makeover.
“It looks at traditional Indian recipes and then modernises them. This is similar to the fabrics and wallpaper from The Heartland Collection, which are rooted in tradition but have been given a modern twist. What we chose complements the sensuality of the food and the colours reflect the ambience and the nature of the space.”
The association between Sabyasachi for Nilaya by Asian Paints and Indian Accent, New Delhi, truly brings together two contemporary Indian brands, each the thought leader in its own domain, to create a new sensory experience. “At Indian Accent New Delhi, we’ve championed India’s culinary heritage,” said the Indian Accent / EHV International team, “We’ve consistently taken what was established and reinterpreted it in unprecedented contemporary ways. Asian Paints, too, has been doing that through all their décor solutions. Hence, the pairing of the furnishings and wallpaper from their Sabyasachi for Nilaya collection with our pathbreaking gastronomy has created an excellent finish, which will add to the dining experience of our patrons.”
The fine fabrics and wallpapers of the Sabyasachi for Nilaya by Asian Paints range, including the eclectic mix of fabrics used at Indian Accent – such as Pashm Damask, Hazaribag Linen, the Great Moghol Traveller and Vintage Sanganer – are available at select furnishing stores across India.
