Sanchez Restaurante & Cantina, better known for authentic and innovative Mexican cuisine, and Sriracha, their contemporary Pan-Asian counterpart, teamed up with the Tequila brand, Don Julio, for an unforgettable Tequila Day celebration.

To further elevate this unforgettable Tequila Day experience, Sanchez Restaurante & Cantina and Sriracha introduced a special sorbet machine, crafting innovative sorbet cocktails designed to perfectly complement the Don Julio tequila offerings.

These unique creations featured the Lemon Rosemary Sorbet, a refreshing blend of zesty lemon and aromatic rosemary infused with a hint of Don Julio Blanco tequila.

Additionally, the Tangy Grapefruit Sorbet offered a delightful balance between the vibrancy of grapefruit and the smoothness of Don Julio Blanco. These exciting culinary concoctions promised exploration of unexpected flavour profiles, guaranteeing a truly memorable Tequila Day celebration.

Tequila – a beloved spirit

Tequila, a beloved spirit originating from the blue agave plant in the region surrounding Tequila, Mexico, boasts a rich history and unique production process. Crafted exclusively in specific areas of Mexico, true tequila must adhere to strict regulations to earn its name.

Known for its distinct flavour profile, which varies from earthy and sweet in Blanco to rich and complex in Añejo, tequila is a versatile spirit enjoyed in myriad ways. Whether sipped neat, mixed in classic cocktails like the Margarita, or infused with modern twists, tequila’s allure lies in its deep connection to Mexican culture and its ability to deliver both a refined and vibrant drinking experience.

Tequila has long been a standout in the agave spirits segment, celebrated for its unique raw material, compelling stories, distinctive character, and widespread availability. Despite these strengths, the category’s growth has lagged behind other spirits for various reasons.

Tequila comes in several variations based on its ageing process. Freshly distilled tequila, known as Blanco or Silver Tequila, is a clear, light spirit primarily used in cocktails. When aged in oak barrels for two to twelve months, it is called Reposado, meaning “rested.” Tequila aged for one to three years is referred to as Añejo, while tequila aged for over three years earns the designation Extra Añejo.

Tequila’s versatility allows it to be enjoyed in various ways. It can be mixed with soda for a refreshing drink, while Añejo and Extra Añejo tequilas are often sipped like whiskey, either neat or on the rocks.

The rich history, meticulous craftsmanship, and the agave-growing regions of Mexico imbue tequila with a mystique and allure that captivates consumers. A lesser-known fact is that just as genuine champagne can only come from a specific region in France, true tequila can only be produced in certain districts of Mexico.

Two tequila cocktail recipes

Sanchez and Sriracha shared two of their tequila cocktail recipes for an unforgettable Tequila Day filled with vibrant flavours, and the smooth taste of tequila.

The mixologist Harry Simon Peter at Sanchez has been experimenting with different ingredients and flavours to create innovative tequila-based cocktails that go way beyond the classic Tequila Sunrise and Margarita.

By incorporating citrus fruits, herbs, and spices, they add layers of complexity and depth to each drink. Guests who appreciate high-quality drinks with clean flavours and less dilution will be delighted by these new creations.

Here are two tequila cocktail recipes for you that are must try at home:
