One always expects ultra luxe fabrics, high tailoring, and of course all the aesthetic sensibilities from the House of Ravi Bajaj.

This year is of course special. In a COVID era of lockdowns and social distancing, transformation is key. And transformation is the soul-note of Ravi Bajaj.

The Collection is an Ode to the Style and Glamour of Indian Cinema of the 60s/70s, and presented on some of the iconic songs of that era. However, the noteworthy fact is that the sound tracks are specially created and sung by Ravi Bajaj himself.

Shares Ravi Bajaj, ” Since this was an era of some of the most fashionable and stylish stars of the Indian Film Industry, we have drawn inspiration from stars such as Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Helen, Sharmila Tagore, Vyjayanthimala and many more. The clothes have been given a more modern twist though, keeping with the times.”

He goes on to say, “The experience  of performing to a camera and not a live audience is so so different. While the vibe and immediate response is missing and you find that vacuum strange, the big advantage is that one can edit out any flaws at will. Also, the camera can capture even the minutest details of embroidery, texture etc and enhance it …so that’s great! In any case this is the new normal, so we will have to learn to adapt ourselves.”

There is a gripping synergy between technology and fashion and the coming together of various engaging processes in this new world. From creating virtual showrooms to making sure business takes place and the show carries on, the Fashion Design Council of India has been at the forefront of adapting to these sub terrene changes.

Interestingly, a Lotus Make-up Beauty Show pays homage to the artistry of make-up with using the face as a canvas, with DLF Emporio/The Chanakya as the luxury partner.

Undoubtedly, it is the finest form of self-expression, at a time when communication channels have been disrupted. In this challenging time, with a swish of gentle brush strokes, it has provided unlimited succor, proving to be unequivocally individualistic.
